The act of bullying has always been a huge problem in Indonesian society. Bullying case reports in Indonesia often come from educational environments, whether primary school, junior high school, high school, or universities. 2024 has become the year with the highest surge in reported cases of violence in school environments, a 100 percent increase compared to 2023 (New Indonesia, 2024). Using the base theory of bullying proposed by Mohan and Abu Bakar, this creative work aims to highlight different types of bullying that a young adult might experience and their effects. It will also explore the different coping mechanisms used by young adults to cope with the negative effects of bullying they experience. This creative work will be in the form of a novella. The novella portrays the main character as someone who was shunned and bullied by his peers because of the false rumors spread by a popular student of his school. The main effect of bullying towards the main character is loneliness, depression, and helplessness because they believed in the rumor planted by the perpetrator more than what the main character says. Thus, the main character used coping mechanisms such as building a close relationship with someone who trusted him, avoiding his bullies and immersing himself in his hobbies to cope with the bullying that happened to him in school.
