ReNu: an upcycling social enterprise – a report on entrepreneurial scholarship in Adelaide
Corporate waste generation poses a significant environmental challenge, with a substantial portion either improperly recycled or discarded altogether. This issue is exacerbated by wasteful corporate gifting practices, where a significant number of gifts are discarded due to lack of utility or sustainability. Recognizing this critical problem, RENU emerges as a pioneering sustainable enterprise that offers a compelling solution. By collaborating with skilled Indonesian artisans, RENU upcycles discarded materials, such as fabric scraps and plastic waste, into stylish and functional products, including corporate gifts and business accessories. This approach not only reduces environmental impact but also empowers local artisans by providing fair wages and sustainable livelihood opportunities. Through its commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility, RENU provides businesses with a means to reduce their environmental footprint while making a positive social impact.
