Attachment anxiety and its impact on Rani’s love affair in Ipar adalah Maut (2024)
This study on Ipar adalah Maut (2024) examines Rani’s psychological behaviors that trigger her attachment anxiety. The purpose of this study is to analyze the causes of Rani’s anxieties that negatively shaped her internal working model of self, leading her to the love affair and consequently impacting her personal life. This analysis applies Mario Mikulincer and Phillip R. Shaver’s (2016) adult attachment theory, specifically focusing on hyperactivating strategies in which Rani experiences threats and seeks security from her attachment figure. The results of this study show that Rani’s behaviors stem from a negative model of self, which drives her hyperactivated attachment style to utilize poor emotional regulation by heavily relying on others for emotional stability. Facing internal psychological conflict, her involvement in a love affair serves as a direct manifestation of an active attachment system to cope with severe trauma through external validation. Therefore, this study concludes that hyperactivating strategies continue to trap Rani’s attachment anxiety in illicit relationships as a desperate attempt for emotional safety.
