Design and implementation of a dashboard-based cost control system for a multi-department bicycle manufacturing company
This study aims to develop a structured and informative cost control system for a bicycle manufacturing company by addressing limitations in cost visibility, cost variance analysis, and Excel-based reporting. The study begins with problem identification using the 5W + 1H approach to understand the importance and challenges of cost control from the perspective of internal users. Based on insights from relevant literature, the study focuses on three main cost variables, namely material cost, labor cost, and overhead cost, by reorganizing existing company data into a structured format suitable for analysis and monitoring. A dashboard-based monitoring system is then developed using Power BI to present budget and actual cost information clearly and visually. The results show that the dashboard improves cost visibility across departments and workstations, facilitates easier interpretation of cost variance, and supports more effective communication and decision-making. Overall, this study demonstrates that dashboard-based monitoring can serve as a practical foundation for enhancing cost control practices and supporting continuous improvement in manufacturing environments.
