reveals the theme of romantic love in his five poems to Emma by using a literary
device namely imagery. The poems that are going to be analyzed are "After a
Journey", "At Castle Boterel", "Beeny Cliff", "The Going", and "The Voice".
Finally, from the use of imagery, it can be found out that Thomas Hardy has the
theme of romantic love in his poems that romantic love includes passion, intimacy
and reflects a high regard for the value of each other?s person.
