The study analyzes translation on meaning. It aims to explore the extent to which Google Translate can preserve meaning and find the most common errors created by Google Translate when translating English customer reviews into Bahasa Indonesia from fiction books on the Goodreads website. Further, the writer applied Bowker (2023) theory of translation on meaning to analyze the data. To carry out the study, the writer uses a qualitative approach. The study shows that some data were error-free. However, some errors were found where Google Translate chose a slightly incorrect choice of vocabulary and also mistakenly chose a wrong choice of vocabulary, leading to a meaning error. In addition, some other errors were also found and classified into two categories, which were vocabulary errors and errors in translation technique. Moreover, the study also reveals that the most often error generated by Google Translate was failing to translate idiomatic expressions. The writer concludes that there were more translation errors than error-free translations.
