Implementation of a user-centered brand portal to optimize internal design workflow at AAK

AAK relies on external designers for creating its sensitive design results in late delivery of projects, overspending, and struggles to protect its valuable assets. In addition, the absence of an internal system enforcing the management and distribution of design materials further hinders the agility of internal teams which worsens their productivity and gives layovers to innovation projects with a consumer-centric focus. The result is an interactive brand portal, a centralized platform that supports the management and distribution of design assets, design templates and guidelines for the consumer-centric innovation section in AAK. Aims to improve productivity by allowing immediate access to consumer-centric brand rules, materials and reducing the reliance on external design as well as streamlining the design workflow. This dissertation illustrates the value a system can generate in enhancing collaborative efforts among different teams, accelerating project time ensuring brand coherence across AAK’s departments. The paper explains the essential components of the brand portal, creates a straightforward user-friendly interface, a brand guideline with tutorials, and design assets template. The portal shall strengthen asset protection and access across AAK’s units, reducing the time spent on the design process. The desk research investigates the current digital asset management systems and the designing system and carries out a survey and a usability test involving AAK employees. Conclusively, the paper offers a detailed analysis of AAK’s current design and identifies crucial gaps while providing a clear roadmap for creating an interactive brand portal that is scalable and immune from data threats. As a result, the plan ensures that AAK realizes improved internal collaboration, operational efficiency, and brand identity. This promotes innovation initiatives.
