This is a study about the causes and the effect of Multiple Personality
Disorder in Ashley Patterson?s character in Sidney Sheldon?s Tell Me Your
Dreams. In this study the writer is curious to know what the causes and the effect
of Ashley Patterson?s Multiple Personality Disorder are. Ashley Patterson?s past
experiences, caused Ashley suffers from her psychological condition. The writer
uses Psychological approach to analyze the main character?s problems. Moreover,
the writer uses a several theories that still connect to psychological approach.
Those theories consist of Multiple Personality Disorder, Childhood Abuse,
Defense Mechanism and Displacement. Finally, the writer reveals that Ashley
Patterson?s problems is happen because of her past traumatic experience by her
parents. This conditions drives her become a multiple personality disorder person,
who is have the other personality inside her body. All of this condition caused
Ashley to experiences some bad effect for her future.
