Eror Analysis in writing IV final drafts produced by English Department students of Petra Christian University - Digital Collection of Petra Christian University

This study is about the Error Analysis in Writing IV Final Drafts Produced by English Department Students of Petra Christian University. The writer wants to find out whether the students of Writing IV class of Petra Christian University's English Department still produce errors or not when they express their ideas in written English. In this thesis, the writer analyzes the errors based on the theory of William T Littlewood, and the writer groups the errors into three types of errors namely: overgeneralization, transfer, and omission. The writer then applies Rod Ellis's theory of how to do the error analysis. Concerning with the analysis, the writer analyzes the data, and put them into categories according to the theory of Littlewood. After analyzing the data, the writer also provides the correct form of the errors. At the end of the analysis, the writer finds out that the most frequent kind of error made by the students of Writing IV class. Finally, the writer gives some suggestions based on her findings in the analysis to the students of how to express their ideas in written form in order to avoid kinds of errors she analyzed. The writer also hopes that this thesis can be beneficial for the students who want to conduct similar research.
